Warts

Warts are benign growths on the skin. It is very important to understand that these are benign. This means that they are not cancerous and will not turn cancerous. These benign growths occur when the Human Papilloma Virus infects the top layer of the skin.  The following 5 homeopathic medicines for warts are very effective –

  1. Thuja
  2. Causticum
  3. Dulcamara
  4. Antim Crudum
  5. Nitric Acid

Before we come to the indications of these individual homeopathic medicines for warts, let us understand a little bit more about warts.

What are warts ?

As I have mentioned at the beginning, warts are benign growths on the skin that happen due to a virus. These growths usually have a rough texture and can grow anywhere on the body. They can look like a miniature cauliflower. Some may look like a solid blister.

Warts are more likely to occur where skin is damaged somehow. It could be due to a cut or a wound. As viruses cause these warts, they can spread from one person to another. Therefore, warts are contagious. So it is advisable to stay away from touching a wart or anything that has just been in contact with it.

What causes Warts?

As I have mentioned earlier also, HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is responsible for causing and spreading warts. This virus can enter the top layer of skin when it is slightly cut or scratched. This is precisely the reason why children tend to get warts much more frequently. It is also the reason that men tend to get them more on the face as they shave regularly. Women tend to get them on their legs again because of this reason only.

How do Warts spread?

This virus can spread from one person to another. Therefore, touching a wart or some clothing that has been in touch with that wart can also cause the virus to spread. This can also allow the spread of wart from one part of the body to another part of the body of the same person. It takes some time for the wart to grow after an infection takes root.

What are the symptoms of Warts?

Warts can be classified into different types depending on their location –

  • Common warts – these are flesh colored growths and are seen on fingers, back of hands, feet and face. They are usually small in size varying from a pinhead to the size of a pea. They are more common on the hands and where the skin was broken at some point of time. Biting nails is another reason for these common warts and this act can transfer the virus from the fingers or the nails to the face also.
  • Plantar Warts – Plantar warts are seen on the soles of feet. They are often flat in nature and may even grow inwards due to pressure on the feet. These warts can hurt badly and feel as if there are pebbles in your shoes.
  • Flat warts – These are smaller in size and are usually present in clusters. Flat warts are quite smooth in their texture. They are more likely to be seen on the faces of children, beard areas of men and legs of women.
  • Filiform warts – They are like long threads or fingers that stick out. Growth rate is quite high and they seem to prop out suddenly. These are usually seen on the nose, around eyes and on the mouth.

Treatment of warts

The allopathic treatment of warts is mostly surgical in nature. They are usually removed by one or the other manner. This may be by laser removal, some sort of chemical application or cauterization. The trouble with this sort of treatment is that it does not treat the cause or the virus. It still remains there and has a tendency to cause the warts to reappear. Another disadvantage is that it tends to leave scars on the skin.

Homeopathic treatment of warts

Homeopathic medicines are very much able to cure the warts completely. It is almost magical in nature. It is worth seeing how these warts disappear almost overnight although this magic takes some time to happen. The beauty of this homeopathic treatment of warts is that these warts do not recur. Another advantage of homeopathic treatment of warts is that it does not leave any mark or scars on the skin.
